NCBN Membership Charter
Aims and Objectives of NCBN – New Coach Business Network
- NCBN is specifically intended for the discussion of coaching related issues – improving your coaching skills, learning how to run a successful business, developing marketing skills etc
- Members are encouraged to participate in all discussions – NCBN’s development depends on the inclusion of every individual voice. Even those coaches fresh out of training bring a wealth of life experience and business skills to the forum, not to mention a refreshing new perspective to old issues, so you are assured there is room for all opinions and ideas to be heard
- Members are encouraged to respectfully challenge one another by asking questions and clearly arguing your point of view. Please be courteous, respectful and tolerant of the opinions of others, even if you do not share them
- The ethos of NCBN is friendly and supportive discussion
- We should not be fearful of challenging or being challenged – this is the central feature of healthy and rigorous debate
Please read on for important info regarding Advertising and Etiquette on the Network Forum…
Advertising on NCBN
- Advertising on NCBN is a privilege rather than a right. The
primary aim of the Network has been outlined above and anyone hoping to
use it to advertise services and events without contributing to member
discussions will be restricted - Members may post one email only informing the group of any
relevant workshop, seminar or other event you are holding. Additional
postings only with the express permission of Marion Ryan or other appointed moderator - These postings are to be made on Fridays only and the subject line to be prefaced ADV
- Postings about someone else’s event are to be treated in the same way – on Fridays and once only
- If you are advertising or recommending a product, service or event
for which you receive, or could receive, an affiliate fee, please make
this clear in your posting. - You may, if you wish, advertise your newsletter or ezine to the group. You may only post your newsletter once, allowing other members to then decide for themselves whether to subscribe to future issues. Please include NEWSLETTER in the subject line.
- Use an email signature with your contact details and website
address if you wish to direct members to further details of your
event. Please don’t abuse this facility. Your email signature should be no more than 4 or 5 lines long
NCBN Etiquette and Protocol
- People get fed up with their inboxes filling up with postings
which would be more appropriate kept off-list (eg to thank someone for
their input without adding to the debate, or simply to say "I agree" or
"Me, too") - Feedback from the membership has indicated that the NCBN is
absolutely not the place for experienced coaches to use every
opportunity to sell their products or drive people to their websites.
As stated above, you are welcome to use a short email signature and
seminars etc can be posted on Fridays with ADV in the subject line - Please refrain from posting virus alerts and scams except in
exceptional circumstances and where you have made appropriate
investigations to ensure they are genuine. Do this via a Google search
please. If in doubt, please don’t post, but feel free to email Marion Ryan or the appointed moderator for guidance - You are expressly forbidden to make libellous postings or postings
which belittle another member. Doing so will lead to your immediate
removal from NCBN and subject to possible legal action - You may not pass on members’ contact details to third parties without the express permission of the member
- You may not phone members to challenge them about postings
- If in doubt about any posting or if you wish to make a complaint please email Marion Ryan at marion@marionryan.com
My thanks to Jan Scott for her original forum guidelines on which the above Membership Charter is largely based.
